Add your WordPress blog posts to another web site
By braddock | May 22, 2008
I’ve been looking for a way to add links to my WordPress blog posts, including excerpts, to a separate standard HTML web site. The way the static web site is set up I can’t use PHP to get the job done.
The problem has been knocking around in my head for a month or so. I stumbled on an answer today. My old friend FeedBurner solved it for me…a long time ago.
FeedBurner has a great service called BuzzBoost, and it’s perfect for my needs. How I’ve overlooked it for so long I just don’t know. BuzzBoost will display posts from your RSS feed anywhere you can use Java script. You tell it the number of posts to display and how many characters long you want the excerpt from each post to be.
Your feed excerpts can be plain text or full HTML. You specify where you want your time stamp to appear if at all, you can include your sites favicon as a little logo for the feed links, and you can even include links to a podcast.
This is great if you have several blogs you want to cross-promote. Here’s a few posts from my feed:
You can knock out the “Subscribe to this Feed” link and style it any way you want. FeedBurner really read my mind on this one. I’m going to see if I can talk a few buddies into a cross-promotion scheme now.
