Google Sites makes setting up a multiple author or group Web Site dead easy
By braddock | May 22, 2008
As if I needed a new toy to play with.
Google has opened up Google Sites to anyone and everyone.
Google Sites is an easy to setup up, simple to customize, and most importantly free way to get a site on the web quickly. You can make your site collaborative by submitting the email addresses of those you want to give editor permissions, or you can set the site to private for a secretive club or business planning.
Strangely out of character for Google I can’t find one content based ad on the site I set up for Boom!Atomic. We’ll see if that lasts.
My blog takes up most of my time as it is, so I don’t know what I’ll actually do with my Google Site. It does make sense from an SEO standpoint though. I put links to my WordPress blog posts and RSS feed up. Combine that with a nice little article about Boom!Atomic and I’ve got another way my site could generate traffic from the Google bot.
You can only use HTML so no PHP scripts.
Of course no one would turn their back on a premium blog engine like WordPress for Google Sites, but if you’re on an ad supported blog host you might. It’s a neat tool to poke around in for a while anyway.
