I am writing this post with Windows Live Writer on a WordPress blog

By braddock | May 9, 2008

This is a test post using Windows Live Writer as the editor on top of WordPress 2.5.1.  This is my first experience with Live Writer, so we’ll see how it goes.

There are very positive comments about Live Writer on alot of the blogs I visit.  The positive word of mouth kind of threw me…this is a Microsoft product after all.

I’m going to test out a few of the tools in the sidebar now.  Here’s a hyperlink to the Live Writer download.  That was about the same as adding a link in WordPress.  Let’s try a picture now.

Okay, adding pictures has some cool features.  I’m using text wrap on the left of the screen shot to see if this works.  I have always had to work hard to make WordPress text wrap on the side of an image.

Ooh, you can insert a table.  Let’s see what that does.

Things to do today Things already done
Alot of stuff Not so much yet

That was pretty painless.  There are lots of options for text alignment and borders.  Everything is right clickable, so there’s alot of stuff to tweak.  When you install Live Writer it takes a look at your theme so it knows your color schemes and content window size.

Inserting things into your blog in this live view makes it easier to see if they need to be resized to fit.  I can’t devote much more time to this now, but I will post more about using Windows Live Writer very soon.  I’m going to try and publish now…fingers crossed.
