Blogged by braddock — Wed 21 May 2008 7:21 pm

woopra-on-ps3-ydl-login Check it out, it’s Woopra running on a PS3.  I finally found something my Playstation can do besides collect dust.

It wasn’t a quick install by any means.  If you haven’t already you’ll need to install Yellow Dog Linux. Next, you need to make sure you have the IBM Java JRE 6 for PPC installed. read the rest »

Use the Creative Commons search in Firefox to find images you are free to use on your blog

Blogged by braddock — Wed 21 May 2008 2:23 pm

creative-commons-search-choose Blogs must have images.  Nothing makes a post come alive like a great picture.  It can be hard to find the right pic for every post though.  If I can’t take the picture myself I usually turn to Flickr.

Flickr is full of images that are licensed under Creative Commons for you to use on your blog.  But not every photo you see on Flickr is licensed for your use.  I hate it when you find an amazing picture on Flickr and it isn’t licensed for download or inclusion on your blog.  If you try to download photos like that all you’ll gather is a bunch of empty spaceball.gif files. read the rest »

Soma FM has the best variety in Internet radio

Blogged by braddock — Tue 20 May 2008 6:00 pm

soma-fm-internet-radio I’ve been blogging away from home base alot these days and I kind of miss my comfortable command center.  My home workspace is molded around me like a big memory foam mattress.

My monitors are all at the right angle, the keyboards at correct anti-carpal tunnel positions, and my chair is broken in perfectly.  The thing I miss most is my sound system though.  My speaker placement is perfect for the acoustics in my office.  Laptop speakers and headphones just can’t compare.

My choice of music to compliment those acoustics is usually Soma FM.  Soma FM is the first Internet radio station I ever listened to, and it’s still my favorite.  They have such a great variety of genres. read the rest »

Google Site Links for your blog - don’t hold your breath

Blogged by braddock — Tue 20 May 2008 2:33 pm

google-site-links-wordpress For a long time I’ve been seeing those neat little site index links showing up in Google search results for particular web sites.  They really make your site stand out from the crowd.

It took me a lot of searching to find out what they are actually called.  They’re Google Site Links.  Google automatically assigns them to your site, and they are the golden ticket of SEO and promotion of your blog. read the rest »
