Soma FM has the best variety in Internet radio
By braddock | May 20, 2008
I’ve been blogging away from home base alot these days and I kind of miss my comfortable command center. My home workspace is molded around me like a big memory foam mattress.
My monitors are all at the right angle, the keyboards at correct anti-carpal tunnel positions, and my chair is broken in perfectly. The thing I miss most is my sound system though. My speaker placement is perfect for the acoustics in my office. Laptop speakers and headphones just can’t compare.
My choice of music to compliment those acoustics is usually Soma FM. Soma FM is the first Internet radio station I ever listened to, and it’s still my favorite. They have such a great variety of genres.
I love listening to Secret Agent or Illinois Street Lounge when I’m on the computer. They both do a good job of syncing my alpha waves for creative thinking. Space Station Soma is good for ambience too. There are 14 different stations if my preferences aren’t to your liking.
There are several different streaming formats for each station too, so you’re bound to find one that suits you and your bandwidth.
The best part is that there’s no advertising. I just hope it stays that way.
The people behind Soma FM are paying all the royalty fees. Lately the RIAA and there buddies in congress have really been putting the screws to Internet based radio stations too. Internet radio stations have to pay more in royalties than AM/FM and satellite services do.
If you like the Soma FM stations you might want to send a little cash their way.
