Woopra site tracker running on a Playstation 3 in Yellow Dog Linux
By braddock | May 21, 2008
Check it out, it’s Woopra running on a PS3. I finally found something my Playstation can do besides collect dust.
It wasn’t a quick install by any means. If you haven’t already you’ll need to install Yellow Dog Linux. Next, you need to make sure you have the IBM Java JRE 6 for PPC installed.
I couldn’t get the Woopra installer to find the JRE so I had to point it to the right path using this in terminal first:
export INSTALL4J_JAVA_HOME=/opt/ibm/java-ppc-60/jre/
Then you’ll have to install Woopra as root from a terminal using:
wget http://static.woopra.com/woopra_unix.sh?anti-cache=12398794379
mv woopra_unix.sh?anti-cache=12398794379 woopra_unix.sh
chmod 777 woopra_unix.sh
./woopra_unix.sh
Once the install was finished I had Woopra in a quiet, semi-portable box that I could hook up to any LCD with an HDMI connection. If I could just split screen Woopra and GTA IV I’d be in business.

That is pretty darn cool, I have to admit. Nicely done.
